Abstract
The adverb sona means 'immediately' in line 750a of Beowulf and must not be interpreted as a subordinating conjunction. Lines 750–754 constitute three main clauses. The genitives in lines 751b and 752a should be seen as dependent of men (752b); they are not used adverbially with local meaning.
