Abstract

Translation of abstract (English)

We show that the frescoes in Poppi are inspired by the artistic discourse between two Florentine monuments of the 1330s i.e. the Baptistery doors by Andrea Pisano and the fresco cycle in the Chapel of the Bargello. This indicates that the Poppi frescos were executed around 1335/40. The results of the research presented here, however, support the opposite. We show that the frescoes in Poppi are fruit of an artistic discourse between two Florentine monuments of the 1330s i.e. the Baptistery doors by Andrea Pisano and the fresco cycle in the Chapel of the Bargello. This indicates that the Poppi frescos were executed around 1335/40.
