Translation of abstract (English)
This article clarifies the problem of the role of Byzantine artists in the development of Kyivan monumental painting of the 12th century. The author analyzes stylistic features of the mosaics and frescoes in the Mykhalivsky Zolotoverkhy Cathedral, the Church of the Saviour on Berestove and St. Cyril’s Church. Special attention has been given to the search for indirect written accounts of the arrival of Byzantine artists to Kyiv during the 12th century.
