Abstract

The aim of this diploma thesis is to construct an inventory based on cognitive-behavioral theories in order to capture risk- and protective factors of the consumption of illegal psy-choactive substances. Ten substance-specific modules are constructed recording on the one hand the knowledge about and on the other hand the behavior concerning certain illegal substances. The substance groups in the focus of the inventory are: cannabis, amphetamines, ecstasy, hallucinogenes and cocaine. For each of them, the inventory contains a knowledge and a behavior scale. Each module consists of 25 to 29 items. The inventory is programmed as a web-based record-tool, tested on a sample of 2404 experimental subjects. Thus, the modules or scales can be reduced down to 15 items each by means of item-difficulty, item-selectivity, Lienert’s selection-index, a factor analysis of each scale but most important by the criteria of theoretical consistence and interpretability. Over all modules, the item-selectivities can be judged as good. In contrast to this, the item-difficulties are low while the selection-indices can be regarded as mediocre. The item-selection is further sustained by the fact, that the main loads of the factor analysis are high while the side loads are low. The internal consistencies are reduced after the test-length-reduction. Six scales show mediocre consistency-coefficients, while four scales bring forth low reliabilities (cannabis-knowledge, amphetamine-, cocaine- and hallucinogene-behavior). For each of the five behavior-modules two validity-coefficients are ascertained. Validity-questions on the basis of DSM-IV-criteria for addiction as well as the frequencies of consumption are used as validity-criteria. For all behavior-scales middle up to high validity-coefficients can be observed. Further studies for hypothesis-tests and stan-dardization have to be conducted. Moreover, validity-cofficients for the knowledge-modules have to be found in the future.
