En el presente trabajo se presentan los resultados de un extensivo trabajo de campo realizado sobre los geoglifos de Palpa, la segunda más grande concentración de geoglifos registrada en la región de Palpa-Nasca, en la parte norte de la cuenca del Río Grande. Dichos geoglifos fueron establecidos sobre las laderas y mesetas que se encuentran entre y a lo largo de los valles de los ríos Grande, Palpa y Viseas. Las evidencias documentadas indican que la construcción de los geoglifos de Palpa empezó durante del desarrollo de la cultura Paracas y terminó al final del desarrollo de la cultura Nasca. Durante ese tiempo, especialmente durante el desarrollo de la cultura Nasca, las laderas y mesetas formaron parte de un paisaje social activo y animado, donde los geoglifos fueron la sede de importantes ceremonias religiosas que giraron alrededor de cultos al agua y a la fertilidad.
Zusammenfassung in einer weiteren Sprache
In the present work, the results of an extensive fieldwork realized over the geoglyphs of Palpa are presented, the second biggest concentration of geoglyphs registered in the Palpa-Nasca region in the northern part of the basin of the Rio Grande. These geoglyphs were established over tilts and tableland between and lengthways of the valleys of the rivers Grande, Palpa and Viseas. Documented evidences indicate that the construction of the geoglyphs of Palpa began during the development of the Paracas culture and finished at the end of the development of the Nasca culture. During that time, especially during the development of the Nasca culture, the tilts and the tablelands formed part of a socially active and encouraged landscape where the geoglyphs were the headquarters of important religious ceremonies to the water and fertility.
