As a result of the increasingly professional nature of museum work and the simultaneous decrease in personnel resources, it is becoming more and more important to exchange experiences and seek expert advice. Accordingly, concepts of knowledge management should be applied to museums. In this work a »Knowledge Management System« is designed for use at the »Database for Swiss Cultural Heritage«, or rather its subsequent installation in the electronic marketplace »Marktplatz Kunst und Kultur«. The system should help museums to identify the specific knowledge, or abilities, of individuals and organisations. In this way, the objective of an information system is to record knowledge media, as opposed to representing the knowledge itself. Some existing expert documentation systems in the Internet are examined and the special requirements for such a system in museums asserted. With the help of Unified Modeling Language (UML), use cases, as well as classes and operations, will be devised. The work concludes with some thoughts on navigation in the information system.
Zusammenfassung in einer weiteren Sprache
Durch eine zunehmende Professionalisierung der Arbeit im Museum bei einer gleichzeitig dünner werdenden Personaldecke wird es für Museen immer wichtiger Erfahrungen auszutauschen und Expertinnen und Experten zu Rate zu ziehen. Konzepte des Wissensmanagements sollen nun für das Museumswesen genutzt werden. In dieser Arbeit wird ein »Knowledge Management System« für einen Einsatz bei der »Datenbank Schweizerischer Kulturgüter« bzw. deren Nachfolgeeinrichtung »Marktplatz Kunst und Kultur« konzipiert. Es soll Museen dabei unterstützen das spezifische Wissen bzw. die Fähigkeiten von Personen und Organisationen zu identifizieren. Die Aufgabe des Informationssystems ist also die Dokumentation von Wissensträgern statt der Repräsentation des Wissens selbst. Es werden einige bereits vorhandene Expertendokumentationssysteme im Internet beschrieben und die besonderen Anforderungen für ein derartiges System im Museumswesen formuliert. Mit Hilfe der Unified Modeling Language (UML) werden Anwendungsfälle sowie Klassen und Operationen modelliert. Überlegungen zur Navigation in dem Informationssystem schließen die Arbeit ab.
