At the same time the data base for describing the consequences of public decision making often is fairly weak. Cosequently, it often seems that public decision making lacks rationality. This in mind, is it worthwhile to apply model building techniques for public decision support ?For regional economic and port policy it is shown, that model building is able- to enhance transparency for a wide range of problems- to betterunderstand the questions to be dealt with- to clarify the consequences of particular courses of actionand thereby to increase efficiency of the resources publicly used. |
