Al-Huda International, founded in 1994 by Dr. Farhat Hashmi, is an organization which gained quite immense popularity among women from the middle and upper class in Pakistan for the past 15 years. Based in Pakistan, it expanded into a large transnational network. By offering specific (Islamic) education for women, Al-Huda achieved to spread a puristic version of Islam among and beyond these classes. By means of an organization like Al-Huda, the dissertation tries to identi-fy processes of continuity and change within the realm of Islamic education for women from a historical and sociological point of view.
