This work is a contribution to the monolithic integration of thermo-mechanical functional liquid-crystalline elastomers (FULCE) as actuators into microtechnology. Common actuator types used in MEMS and microtechnology are characterised and shown, which benefits emphasises the new actuator family of functional liquid-crystalline elastomers. From the point of view of the possible applications the unique properties of the novel, potential actuator material is described. Because of the characteristic of the actuator the application field is narrowed to microtechnology and nanotechnology, respectively. Basic conditions and requirements of microtechnology, which are necessary for the application of the novel actuator are developed. Bibliographical references concerning mechanical actuator tension and stain are investigated experimentally. A possible workflow for the successful non-hybrid integration of the actuator material FULCE is presented. The pre-material of the acuator is processed to gain a functional liquid-crystalline elastomer actuator. On some sample items the functionality of the actuator is proven by optical polarisation microscopy and functional experiences, respectively. For further works and investigations ideas are given.
