Abstract

There is sparse data available on the number, incidence, and type of medical emergencies on board commercial aircraft (IFME, in-flight medical emergencies). A standardized national or international registry is not yet available. Defining incidence-related medical equipment on board of aircraft as well as the analysis of in-flight medical emergencies requires systematic data acquisition in a standardized format. The emergency documentation form of the German Society of Aerospace Medicine in both, German and English language facilitates data collection / analysis. It should be used for national and international flights in the future. Having this form available in the, emergency medical kit may optimize data collection as well as analysis of in-flight medical emergencies.
