Abstract

The parenting self-efficacy questionnaire (FSW), consisting of 9 items and developed based on several internationally renowned instruments, measures parental self-efficacy. The purpose of this paper is to assess the psychometric quality and validity of the FSW. The FSW was evaluated using a sample of N=271 mothers and N=198 fathers of children who were 2.5 to 6.5 years old. Good values of internal consistency were found for the total score of the FSW (Mothers: alpha=.78; Fathers: alpha=.79). Correlations with other questionnaires were mostly found to be as expected. The questionnaire is suitable for future use in both practice and research.
