Abstract

This thesis explores the effects of religiosity on public participation in a country comparative context. Using data from the World Values Survey, it is found , among other things, that greater levels of societal modernisation are associated with greater effects of religiosity on organisational types of behaviour. This study builds on secularisation theory and religious economies theory by looking at their implications and by doing so proposing revisions.
