Abstract

The article presents the recent earthquake activity on the territory of Germany of the last years, starting with 2002 up to and including 2019. Ground motion measurements are processed and for selected time histories correlated with the subsurface situation of the current and previous earthquake standard DIN EN 1998-1/NA for selected earthquakes (Alsdorf 2002, Waldkirch 2004, Goch 2011, Nassau 2011). For the selected earthquakes, samples of measured ground motions and the observed macroseismic intensity are correlated. The investigation of the maximum observed ground motion magnitudes as well as the macroseismic effects is of high interest for applications in the field of engineering seismology, especially for the realistic estimation of ground motion in low to moderate seismic regions like Germany. Shake maps are determined for the selected events, which show the potential shaking effects.
