Abstract

Am 25. Dezember 1944 vermerkte Max Beckmann in seiner Agenda: Choux des Bruxelles entworfen. Seine Frau Mathilde Quappi Beckmann bemerkte, dass es sich hier um den späteren Titel des Gemäldes „Les Artistes mit Gemüse“ handelte. Dieser Titel wird für das Bild nicht verwendet und man glaubt auch nicht, dass er es 1944 nochmal überarbeitet hat. Warum hat Quappi aber diese Bemerkung gemacht? Dieser Frage wird in dem folgenden Artikel nachgegangen.

Translation of abstract (English)

On 25 December 1944, Max Beckmann noted in his agenda: Choux des Bruxelles designed. His wife Mathilde Quappi Beckmann noted that this was the later title of the painting "Les Artistes mit Gemüse". This title is not used for the painting and it is not believed that he revised it again in 1944. But why did Quappi make this remark? This question will be investigated in the following article.
