Aspirações e fracassos da narrativa contemporânea em um romance de Roman Ehrlich
- Em seu último romance, "Die fürchterlichen Tage des schrecklichen Grauens" ("Os pavorosos dias do Espantoso Horror"), Roman Ehrlich apresenta a trajetória de um grupo de pessoas que almeja produzir um filme de terror inovador que retrate todos os medos da atualidade. Ao mesmo tempo que não rejeitam a inspiração dos mais diversos filmes do gênero, incluindo o trash, os envolvidos acreditam poder produzir uma obra vanguardista de destacada qualidade artística. Tão claro quanto o futuro fracasso do projeto, está o jogo de vaidades e inseguranças que movimenta o grupo, assim como a completa ausência das pretensas qualidades artísticas. Com base nas teorias de Andreas Huyssen sobre o pós-moderno, Bourdieu sobre o valor da arte, e Boris Groys sobre o novo, este artigo visa discutir como ambições artísticas mal fundamentadas produzem o efeito de vazio trabalhado no romance de Roman Ehrlich.
- In his latest novel, "Die fürchterlichen Tage des schrecklichen Grauens", Roman Ehrlich presents the trajectory of a group of people which aims the production of an innovative horror movie that depicts all contemporary fears. They do not reject the inspiration of various movies, including B-movies, and trust their capability of producing a high-quality avant-garde work. The future failure of the project is clear, for the group is moved by vanity and insecurity, and lacks any of its pretense artistic qualities. Based on the theories of Andreas Huyssen about the post-modern, Bourdieu about the value of art, and Boris Groys about the new, this article discusses how poorly grounded artistic ambitions produce the feeling of emptiness explored in Roman Ehrlich's novel.
