    <dcterms:abstract xml:lang="eng">This paper discusses nominalized complements in Tamil, analyzing them as a type of mixed category. We unpack the complex morphological marking found on the nominalized complements and analyze their morphosyntactic properties. The embedded clauses function as verbally headed complements internally, but display nominal properties with respect to the matrix clause. We tie our analysis to a diachronic perspective on mixed categories and propose that the concept of complex categories developed within ParGram allows for: 1) an elegant account of the mixed categorical properties of Tamil nominalized complements; 2) factoring in the gradual effects of historical reanalysis.</dcterms:abstract>
