Zusammenfassung

In his dissertation Innovation in networks the net and the new Frank Morath approaches networks from the perspective of innovation. The central question being if networks as social configurations are more open to the new than other social configurations such as organizations or markets. Within a social constructionist framework he reaches a differentiated conclusion. Networks are in general pro-innovation, if certain specific features of networks are taken into consideration.
The new aspect of this dissertation is the application of the sociology of knowledge by Berger/Luckmann to networks and the empirical reference with the example of an electronic network.

In seiner Dissertation Innovation in Netzwerken wie kommt das Neue in eine vernetzte Welt? beleuchtet der Autor Frank Morath die Innovationsfähigkeit von Netzwerken. Kern der der Arbeit ist die Frage, ob Netzwerke als soziale Konfiguration offener für Neues sind, als andere soziale Konfigurationen wie Organisationen oder Märkte. Im Rahmen eines sozialkonstruktivistisch ausgerichteteten Theoriemodells kommt der Autor zu einem differenzierten Ergebnis. Netzwerke sind prinzipiell innovationsförderlich, wenn einige netzwerkspezifische Besonderheiten beachtet werden.
Das Neue an der Arbeit von Frank Morath ist die Übertragung der Wissenssoziologie von Berger/Luckmann auf das Phänomen Netzwerke und die empirische Belegung am Beispiel eines elektronischen Netzwerkes.
